As part of the Obama Administration’s efforts to improve commercial building efficiency 20% by 2020, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced a partnership with The Appraisal Foundation that will help expand access to energy efficiency and building performance information for commercial buildings and help American businesses to reduce energy waste. The Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) today approved tax incentives for two companies choosing to expand or locate in Michigan, as well as two brownfield redevelopment projects and one significant brownfield amendment. According to the companies’ estimates, the approved projects are expected to generate $121.3 million in new investment, and create or retain a projected 803 direct jobs in communities across the state.

U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan today announced Green Refinance Plus, a program between HUD’s Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Fannie Mae to allow owners of existing affordable rental housing properties to refinance into new mortgages that include funding for energy- and water-saving upgrades, along with other needed property renovations.
