Join Six Rivers as we dedicate our new Anchor Bay Woods Preserve in New Baltimore! We’ll engage in a mini-hike while learning more about this unique habitat and viewing the spring wildflowers. We’ll gather in the parking lot of the New Baltimore police station and then take a quick hike in the woods. This is a wild, wetland property, so dress accordingly.
Anchor Bay Woods Preserve is a wet-mesic flatwoods, one of the last in this part of the state. It consists of micro-topography (wetland pockets interspersed with upland hummocks). Vernal pools will be flooded at this time of year and hosting tadpoles, salamanders, and other wetland species.
Site conditions: wild, wetland, forested, pools, deadfalls, underbrush. No trails or restrooms.
