The Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) announces the selection of Ronald S. Taylor as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 22, 2018. He succeeds Paul Bridgewater who has retired.
“After a lengthy search, the DAAA Board of Directors is excited to welcome Mr. Taylor as DAAA’s President and CEO,” said Wayne W. Bradley, Sr. “His experience is rare, and older persons, adults with disabilities and caregivers in this region will benefit from his background.” Bradley added that Mr. Taylor has a his vast range of management experience that could not be more relevant or necessary to DAAA’s success in the years ahead.”
As President and CEO, Mr. Taylor will continue to advance DAAA’s mission of educating, advocating and promoting healthy aging to enable people to make choices about home and community-based services and long-term care that will improve their quality of life. “I am extremely honored to be joining the Detroit Area Agency on Aging as its next President & CEO. I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of Paul Bridgewater. I am excited to join an organization and network that has worked tirelessly and passionately to serve its constituents and community,” says Mr. Taylor.
Mr. Taylor brings more than 25 years of experience in the aging network in local, state and federal positions. He joins DAAA from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Administration on Community Living (ACL), where he has been the Aging Services Program Specialist for Region III & IV located in Atlanta, GA.
He has worked four years with the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs in Tallahassee, FL as the Division Director, Statewide Community-Based Services.
His background also includes working 12 years with the Area Office on Aging (AOoA) of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. At the AOoA, Mr. Taylor served as Vice President for Program Development and Quality Assurance. He was also an instructor at the University of Toledo where he developed and delivered curriculum on Death & Dying and Development Patterns of Adulthood and Aging.
Mr. Taylor’s track record proves that he has been successful in managing annual budgets of up to $300 million and supervising up to 240 employees as well as collaborating with federal agencies such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Health Services Administration, Veteran’s Administration and the Social Security Administration.
With more than two decades of experience working with older adults, Mr. Taylor holds a Master of Business Administration – Management, Master of Arts – Urban Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts – Social Work.
