PLYMOUTH – Those who know Michigan-based Burroughs as a company that specializes in check-image capture and cash-automation solutions but probably don’t realize its industry leadership in environmentally responsible practices. The company’s programs to promote sustainability, reduce pollution, eliminate waste and conserve energy will be represented as it participates in Plymouth’s third-annual Green Street Fair being held this weekend.”Burroughs Payment Systems is deeply committed to energy efficiency and waste reduction, and we are excited about our sponsorship of the Green Street Fair,” said Alan Howard, president and CEO, Burroughs. “Our environmental initiatives extend from product development and assembly to packaging, recycling and end-of-life reclamation.”
Burroughs sponsorship at the Green Street Fair is focused on a “Flip Your Lid” program with Plymouth-based Bird Elementary School. Prior to the event, students will collect plastic lids of all colors, shapes and sizes to create oversized flowers for placement during the upcoming weekend around Plymouth’s Kellogg Park. In addition, attendees will be encouraged to help develop a special Flip Your Lid mural to eventually be placed at Bird Elementary School to remind young students of the environmental responsibility.
“Many of our employees will be in attendance the event, and I look forward to personally discussing with students and others Burroughs’ passion for the environment,” said Howard.
