Center Line Electric and Rauhorn Electric, Inc. along with IBEW Local 58 and the Electrical Industry Training Center were recognized for their contribution on the installation of a Windspire wind turbine at Birmingham Covington Schools during a ribbon cutting ceremony held Tuesday at the school. The vertical wind turbine was installed on the west side of the school and will tie-in with renewable energy training. The wind turbine and an accompanying data dashboard will augment curriculum topics that include power generation, basic electricity, power consumption, conversion of mechanical power to electrical power, and much more.
The project was a collaborative effort by several area companies and the turbine was donated by Mariah Power. Apprentices and Instructors from the Detroit JATC-Electrical Industry Training Center, as well as, staff from CenterLine Electric and Rauhorn Electric, Inc. donated their time and expertise to the project. On hand at the event were many local and state dignitaries including Skip Pruss, Chief Energy Officer for the State of Michigan and Director the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth.
