Ann Arbor Michigan, – Michigan Electric Auto Association, Michigan Clean Energy Coalition, and Washtenaw Community College showed its commitment to clean air and energy independence during its National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey event.
The event was held on October 15, the Michigan Electric Auto Association’s Odyssey is one of more than 100 events being held concurrently across the United States to raise awareness across the nation about the use of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.
“We were very excited to be a part of Odyssey 2010,” said Larry Tuttle, President, Michigan Electric Auto Association. “We are convinced that alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles are the future for our country, and we feel Odyssey helped us inform the public of what is available now and what the future may hold, so they can start to make plans for adopting alternative transportation.”
National AFV Day Odyssey is coordinated by the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University. Since its inception in 2002, Odyssey has drawn record-breaking crowds at sites nationwide, allowing millions to hear its message. Participants took part in ride-and-drives, educational seminars and training workshops while being provided with numerous networking opportunities.
Odyssey is supported in part by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, which awarded grants to the NAFTC for the Advanced Electric Drive Vehicle Education Program, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Clean Cities Learning Program. National sponsors Toyota, Honda, Eaton Corporation and Think also are contributing to the 2010 National AFV Day Odyssey.
