The USGBC Students at the University of Michigan and the School of Natural Resources & Environment would like to present the inaugural speaker series entitled “Moving Beyond Green Building: Exploring the Socioeconomic Impacts of Green Building & Interdisciplinary Collaboration.”
When: Friday March 30, from 4:15 to 6:00 PM
Where: Room 1040 of the Samuel T. Dana Building on the University of Michigan Central Campus (440 Church Street, Ann Arbor, MI)
This symposium will bring together diverse stakeholders to discuss the unspoken benefits of green buildings. We hope to explore how green buildings and interdisciplinary collaboration can serve as drivers of social change through community empowerment, faith, social justice, and affordability.
Opening remarks will be given by Dean Marie Lynn Miranda, Dean of the School of Natural Resources & Environment; and Professor Andrew Hoffman, Director of the Erb Institute of Sustainability.
The symposium will feature presentations by representatives from:
· Habitat for Humanity
· Michigan Interfaith Power & Light
· WARM Training Center
· Green Garage Detroit
A panel discussion will follow.
Afterwards, there will be a networking reception (appetizers, cash bar) on the University of Michigan’s Central Campus (N. University, Ann Arbor, MI) starting at 6:00pm to meet other students, community members, and professionals.
