A group called Macomb Fresh has picked Clintondale Middle School as one of the five flagship schools that they would like to partner with to create a 1,000 sq. ft. outdoor garden.
Mr. Rob Blehm visted today to view our site and to discuss common goals.
Rob has ties to MSU Extension and funding from United Way. Some of the improvements we discussed were:
- Consulting with MSU staff to improve our greenhouse
- Develop raised beds
- and work with our food services department to compost lunch waste
Assuming district approval, we hope to have plants in the ground by the end of June. Part of the process also involves developing curriculum that ties real world, hands on plant science with State of Michigan benchmarks.
Thanks, Rob, for choosing Clintonedale Middle School. Find more information about Rob and Macomb Fresh at MacomFresh@HopeCenterMacomb.org.
