Wayne County is gearing up for its second 2012 Healthy NEW ME Cover the Uninsured Health Expo, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at the Inkster Recreation Center, 2025 Middlebelt Road, in Inkster.
The event is FREE and open to the public and will feature health screenings and referrals, health coverage options, vendors, important health information, light refreshments and entertainment for the entire family*.
Wayne County’s first 2012 Health Expo held May 16 at Detroit’s Cobo Center, was very successful. Thousands of uninsured and underinsured metro area residents have received health screenings since the event’s inception six years ago.
The Inkster Health Expo is being hosted by the Health and Human Services Department to provide outreach to those in western Wayne County communities, although everyone is welcome to attend.
The need for health care in the community is a dire one with nearly 400,000 uninsured Wayne County residents. The expo is designed to help serve as a safety net for individuals needing assistance.
