The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is hosting two conferences in the coming weeks to highlight the successes achieved by state and local communities to improve the energy efficiency of public, commercial, and residential buildings. ***Better Buildings Summit for State and Local Communities, June 2627, 2012, Denver, Colorado.
The Better Buildings Summit for State and Local Communities will focus on working with public sector professionals to build sustainable programs for public and commercial buildings. Managers of state and local energy programs, as well as managers from school districts and other related public sector offices are invited to join Better Buildings Challenge Partners and fellow public leaders to discuss what is working to reduce energy consumption, create jobs, and save on the operating costs of commercial buildings. The event will feature interactive sessions on topics such as portfolio-wide energy management, successful public-private collaborations, policy development, available technical assistance, financing options, and much more.
Registration for the event is free. DOE may have the ability to provide financial assistance for the cost of traveling to the Summit on a limited basis. A limited number of reimbursements for travel expenses may be available on a case-by-case basis for those state and local jurisdictions wishing to attend the Summit that do not have an existing grant agreement with DOE. Requests for travel cost reimbursements must be made by June 8 via email to Julia Downing.
