Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them premiered at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, in Detroit, Michigan, on July 26, 2012. The venue at the museum was the perfect setting with salsa music and dancing along with tequila tasting provided by Blue Nectar Tequila.
This one woman stand up comedy show was written, produced and acted by Maria Costa, who grew up in the Hispanic section of Detroit.
She has been named a 2012 Kresge Artist Fellow and been awarded $25,000 along with her company Oro Entertainment. Oro Entertainment consists of Co-Founder and Executive Producer, Francisco Segovia and Maria Costa, Co-Founder and creator of Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them.
A great story of home town girl does good with some help from TechTown. Maria and Francisco heard about great things happening at TechTown and decided to find out what the incubator was all about.
Ms. Costa and Oro Entertainment are now the proud recipients of a starter grant from TechTown that will help her develop a screen play for film.
Her July performance along with The Macho Men Salsa Band was outstanding and if you love a macho man, as I do, or know someone who does, this show is a must see. It is hilariously funny and sexy!
The next performance will be at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, on Thursday, September 14, 2012. Order tickets at www.mariacosta.com or call 424-245-6261.
