Keynote speaker: Jerome Ringo, a national leader in the green jobs movement and the former President of the Apollo Alliance
Jerome Ringo, has built an illustrious career as a pioneering leader of the environmental movement. In response to the world’s worsening environmental conditions, he campaigned for environmental justice and effectively altered how people live and the way businesses work around the world. For over 20 years, Ringo has taken his message to various forums – from global lectures and business meetings – to assorted lobbying groups, governmental officials and non-profit organizations, all the while relentlessly advocating for policies that protect the environment, stimulate the economy, and help eliminate the world’s addiction to fossil fuels. He has served as CEO of Synergy Global Development and was the first African American to head the National Wildlife Federation board of directors. As former President of the Apollo Alliance, he helped build a coalition of over 17 million members while heading the Alliance.
Jerome will share his thoughts on our region’s challenges on multiple fronts – a sagging economy, out-of-control gas prices, dependence on other nations to meet our energy needs, and the perils of global warming – investing in the green economy has emerged as a single solution to multiple problems. There is opportunity in every facet of our economy, whether it be green building, manufacturing wind turbines, implementing energy efficient technologies, or inventing the fuels of the future. American industry can be at the forefront of transforming our economy to transform the world.
