If you missed our recent Local Climate and Energy webcast, Beating the Heat: Effective Approaches to Heat Island Reduction, you can listen to recordings of all the speakers talks and view their presentations online.
Transcripts of each presentation and the entire webcast are also available. Questions submitted during the webcast have been answered by our presenters and are available at the same link; additional questions submitted after the webcasts will be posted shortly with their answers.
In this webcast, held on August 8, 2012, participants learned about the heat island effect and how it can affect a citys energy consumption and public health. Participants also learned how Chula Vista, California; Austin, Texas; and the Dallas-Fort Worth area are using cool pavements and vegetation to lower local temperatures.
Here’s some feedback we received from webcast attendees:
-
“EXCELLENT presentation, I totally recommend it to anyone interested, including private citizens.”
-
“The August 8 Heat Island Webcast was excellent. It was very applied and practical, and should help any community that is interested in action.”
