On Sept. 29, 2012, the Center for Green Schools (www.centerforgreenschools.com ) at the U.S. Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org) will host the first ever Green Apple Day of Service to schools (www.mygreenapple.org). For one day, advocates from across the country and around the world will come together in support of healthy, sustainable schools by taking real action in their communities. Many schools in the Metro Detroit area are participating this year.
The USGBC Detroit Regional Chapter is assisting at many of the schools. “This is a chance for the whole community to support our neighborhood schools, because our children learn there, and where they learn matters,” said Peggy Matta, Chair of the Green Schools Advocacy Committee.
