For the 2012-13 academic year, the Southeast Michigan Green Schools Initiative – a cooperative effort between Macomb, Oakland and Wayne County Green Schools Program coordinators – is pleased to announce their collaboration has increased to include holding a “Growing Green Schools Workshop,”in each county.
As there has been much interest expressed in holding these workshops, we expect each of them to be very well attended.
The schedule is as follows:
- October 19 – Oakland County (at Oakland Schools)
- October 23 – Macomb County (at the MISD)
- October 24 – Wayne County (at Wayne RESA)
This event will be attended by teachers/staff/administrators/school volunteers interested in the Michigan Green Schools Program. Anyone can attend, whether they are a current or past participant or if they are just learning about the program, and registration is free. Those who come will be able to obtain information about available resources, new Program Guidelines, and they can ask questions about requirements and the application process. This year, MSU Extension will provide a formal presentation.
The workshop is a great time for schools to share ideas, get tips, resources, and network with others working on Green Schools projects. We acknowledge and appreciate the support your organization already provides or can provide to our schools and we know it is important for school program coordinators to be able to connect with you.
Our agenda for all three workshops is attached and we are letting the participants arrive early to have time with vendors before the start of the workshop as well as break time and afterwards. I hope this helps!
If you would like to have a table or provide information at all/any of our workshops, please contact one of the following county coordinators:
