EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice has released a Request for Applications (RFA) announcing the availability of funds for the Environmental Justice Small Grants (EJSG) Program for fiscal year 2013 (FY13).
The EJSG Program provides funding to eligible applicants for projects that address local environmental and public health issues within affected communities. Successful projects include activities designed to educate, empower and enable communities to understand environmental and public health issues and to identify ways to address these issues at the local level. This year’s Small Grants Program solicitation will emphasize supporting the critical role of community-based and grassroots organizations in helping communities understand and address exposure to multiple environmental harms and risks.
Begun in 1994 and having provided more than 1300 grants nationwide, the EJSG Program continues to assist recipients and affected communities in building self-sustaining, community-based partnerships involving strategic plans that work towards addressing local environmental and public health issues.
