Ecotelligent Homes and the Farmington Hills Commission for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, along with the City of Farmington and DTE Energy invite you and your neighbors to a free home energy audit seminar, held on Wednesday, November 28th, from 7:00PM-8:30PM at the Farmington Hills Longacre House located at 24705 Farmington Road.
A home energy audit evaluates your home as a whole system with diagnostic testing equipment to solve your comfort issues and understand where you are using the most energy. Whether you are curious about all of the steps included in the home energy audit process or enthusiastic about getting your home sealed up for the winter months to save on utility bills, this gathering is for you. The free seminar will highlight all of the steps in a comprehensive home energy audit using the historic Longacre House as an example. Snack on some light appetizers as Ecotelligent Homes explains why a home energy audit is important in determining your home’s health, comfort and energy performance.
See firsthand how the thermal infrared cameras reveal the insulation levels in the walls and ceilings of the Longacre House. Take part in a blower door test as it identifies hidden air leaks in the building envelope and see how that information is used to evaluate energy losses and diagnose occupant discomfort. Observe the health and safety tests including checking for natural gas leaks and testing carbon monoxide levels produced by the boilers at the Longacre House.
A representative from DTE Energy and Consumers Energy will be on hand to explain the various rebate programs available to residents who have a home energy audit performed and implement energy efficiency improvements.
