Today’s business world is changing. With a recovering economy, an increase in social media and a vacuum for new businesses marketing has been modified.
The most valuable resource now is the networking group, and the best networking groups are ones with values similar to the businesses they serve. Much like the networking group Environmental Management Association (EMA), dedicated to protecting the environment with business.
EMA is a networking association that rivals others, with members who are not only warm and welcoming, but who are passionate about protecting the environment for generations to come. This networking group works not only to connect members to others who will help their business grow, but build a community that will sustain itself.
The EMA’s resources are vast, not only can a business owner go in and find clients and vendors, but are also given the added help with governmental policies, and future projects on the horizon. Furthermore the EMA gives its members a chance to give back to the community that has been so good to them.
The EMA’s most recent business meeting was held at Fishbones in Greek Town. The night started off with an opportunity for members to network and eat wonderful appetizers. Once the meeting was called to order, it was opened with a keynote speaker, then moved on to conducting business.
This particular meeting was essential for the board members because it was the last meeting before their annual Science Fair at Cobo Hall. Members are invited to get involved and become part of the judging, make a donation or help raise funds for the scholarships that will be given to winners of the High School Science Fair.
The members were planning their up coming Environmental Achievement Award Banquet, which would not only honor the Science Fair winners, but honor a business who has contributed greatly to being environmentally savvy.
Even with a heavy concentration on upcoming events and encouragement to get involved, sprinkled throughout the meeting was the board advocating feedback from members. Several board members actively spoke about the desire to cater to member needs. Advocating for keynote speakers that could shed light on issues members are dealing with, or ideas for events. The board also reminded members that they are always open to help connect people, even if just for a quick question.
The EMA is currently working on the bylaws to include technology so they may reach members with social media outlets like Facebook and LinkedIn.
This organization is a valuable resource for business owners who have a passion for protecting the earth, bringing together the fine art of networking with a chance to give back and protect the planet we live on.
