Hilliard Lyons today announced that it has acquired the assets of Great Lakes Capital Markets, LLC to continue the expansion of its Public Finance footprint in states in which it has offices. The firm has 12 offices in Michigan.
As a result of the transaction, Public Finance veterans Jack Brusewitz and Tom Enright have joined Hilliard Lyons and will immediately begin working with state and municipal clients.
“Jack and Tom understand the needs of local and state level issuers in Michigan. Their efforts will be a big help to those issuers,” said Hilliard Lyons Municipal Securities Group Senior Managing Director Alex Rorke. “This is another example of Hilliard Lyons investing in Michigan. We are bullish on Michigan and its future.”
Over the past year, Hilliard Lyons has added eight Municipal Securities professionals to its ranks.
Hilliard Lyons’ Public Finance area has achieved substantial growth in many areas this year. After ranking second as Financial Advisor in Kentucky in 2012, Rorke is confident Hilliard Lyons will rank first in Kentucky this year, given recent appointments with Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District, the Louisville Arena Authority and others. Additionally, the firm is having much success in Indiana and recently added Ohio Public Finance Banker Scott Stubbins to the team.
Brusewitz, Great Lakes’ former CEO, has more than 28 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including stints at Oppenheimer, Paine Webber and Merrill Lynch. He has facilitated underwriting/placement deals for all types of tax-exempt and taxable debt issuers throughout the state of Michigan. He is a former Trustee of the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority (now the Michigan Finance Authority). Additionally, as a player for the USA Basketball Team, Brusewitz won three Gold Medals at the World Masters Games in 1994, 1998 and 2002.
Most recently, Enright served as Managing Director for Great Lakes Capital Markets. Prior to that, he worked in Public Finance for Oppenheimer and Raymond James.
“We’re excited to be joining Hilliard Lyons,” Brusewitz said. “We look forward to working with Alex’s team in support of Michigan and all of its municipalities.”
Jack Brusewitz will be based in Hilliard Lyons’ Birmingham, Mich. office at 34611 Woodward Avenue. Mr. Brusewitz can be reached at (248) 593-7705 or JBrusewitz@hilliard.com.
