The 11th Annual Mayors’ Grand River Cleanup will take place on Saturday, September 20. Hundreds of volunteers will convene at Sixth Street Park in Grand Rapids and spend their morning removing trash from the banks of the Grand River and its tributaries. To make this special event a success, extra helpers are needed! There are many additional ways to get involved in the 11th Annual Mayors’ Grand River Cleanup. If you’re interested in doing more or contributing in a different capacity, check out these opportunities: Site Leaders What does a site leader do? How does a site leader get prepared? Being a site leader requires a little more responsibility than your standard cleanup volunteer, but it’s a great opportunity to help volunteers have a good experience and hone leadership skills. To make sure that you and your volunteers have the best possible experience, site leaders are asked to attend a training session to learn about the event and expectations. What are the details of site leader training? When: Tuesday, September 9 from 7:00pm-8:30pm Where: WMEAC offices, 1007 Lake Dr SE, Grand Rapids 49506 Dinner will be provided. I am interested in being a site leader, but cannot attend training. What do I do? You can still participate! Contact Becky Brown, bbrown@wmeac.org, 616-451-3051, ext 26 to organize an alternative training time.
