Join Automation Alley’s Education and Workforce Committee for the Season 2 kickoff of the “Michigan’s Got Talent” lunch ‘n’ learn event series with a seminar focused on hiring veterans, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Veterans: The Untapped Talent Pool” will include presenters who will share their expertise on creating veteran-hiring initiatives. The presentations will be followed by a Q-and-A session, lunch and networking.
“This event will help to educate the local business community about how to hire veterans and will also deliver the message that hiring veterans is a smart decision for businesses. We know that this is a highly skilled talent pool, yet veterans are often an overlooked employment population,” said Karol Friedman, Automation Alley director of talent development.
Speakers will include:
• David Dunckel, Roush Veterans Initiatives Program
• Mark Meadows, Workforce Development Agency: Veteran’s Services Division
• Herbert Thomas, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
• Mike St. John, Expetec Technology Services
Additional events in the “Michigan’s Got Talent” lunch ‘n’ learn series will continue to focus on the theme of hiring and keeping talent. Topics will cover:
• Recruiting technology tools
• A social media strategy for recruiting and retaining talent
• Legal guidelines for hiring and building policies for employees
The cost to attend “Veterans: The Untapped Talent Pool” is $20 for members with pre-registration or $30 at the door. The cost for non-members is $40 with pre-registration or $50 at the door.
