The Gratiot Splash announced its 6th Annual Event which is a free community festival that occurs each year on ARISE Detroit Neighborhood Day taking place on August 1, 2015 at 2000 Gratiot Ave featuring Mosaic Youth Performers, Gratiot got Talent Performers, and a variety of other local talent 8am-6pm.
The 2015 summer theme, “What makes me a Leader”,” explores youth’s creativity by promoting a
poster and essay contest to 3rd grade students. The theme is reflected in four Teen’s empowerment
workshops conducted by Dr. Nixon T.LAB absolutely free.
Echoing the message “What makes me a leader” by many of our Public Officials we have confirmations
from U.S. Congressman John Conyers, President of the City Council, City Clerk, Council members and
many Business Leaders speaking during our Teen’s Civic and Business Leadership Forum. Inspired to
engage generations together there will be a Teen adopts a Senior Day exchanging histories or
experiencing fun together working in partnership with DAAA.
“The Gratiot Splash Festival is a remarkable and unforgettable experience.” says Executive Director
Josie Kimball who works vigorously as a non-paid volunteer during evening hours. “Across all our
components—our extraordinary volunteers, students, visitors and talent devotes their commitment to
the City of Detroit on this very special day “ARISE Detroit Neighborhood Day” which creates an
incredible synergy citywide. We provide food, ponies, petting farm, STEAM tables activities, bouncers,
educational assessment, college fair, health fair, car show, drummers, mentoring and club
opportunities. We are seeking sponsors and donations to further our mission of creating a fun filled

The Gratiot Splash is something you have to experience and we believe in the old adage “no one cares
how much you know until they know how much you care” the Gratiot Splash shows communities how
much we care. This free family outdoors event runs from 8am – 6pm filled with workshops,
performances and activities. Many local churches will be present during 6:30-8am praying for
communities, families and safety. The Gratiot Splash has something for all ages to experience and
enjoy and we hope to see you Saturday August 1, 2015.
