“EDSS values opportunities to meet and discuss with our representatives. Sharing the importance of energy efficiency solutions for commercial buildings will help Congressman Bishop represent us. We also feel it’s important to stay tuned into the latest developments in governmental standards and policy. We are glad he could meet with us.” CEO David Ely, shared with the team.
Congressman Bishop spoke to the staff about Michigan’s status as an energy leader, as well as the importance of energy efficiency solutions in the commercial industry and sustainable energy policy moving forward. “I am confident that Michigan is a leader among the states [in energy policy]”, Congressman Bishop said, addressing the staff. “We’re an environmental state.”
Congressman Bishop and the EDSS team spoke about the importance of the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) and the 179D Tax Deduction that is headed for extension before the end of the year. EPAct 179D Tax Deduction allows eligible buildings that meet the 50% energy efficiency standard to achieve up to $1.80 per square foot. Congressman Bishop hopes that this decision will be made before the holidays.
David spoke about EDSS’s goals and growth moving forward. “This is a growing industry. We are proud to be a leading expert in our field as it develops right here in Michigan.”
