More about the films:
· “Detroit Mob Confidential” explores the history of Detroit’s La Cosa Nostra Family, which, in many ways, is the most successful crime family in the United States. In addition to law enforcement and media sources, former associates reflect on the past and their work with Detroit Mafia members in sports gambling and other criminal activities. Several hundred unique and never-seen-before surveillance photographs from Federal law enforcement are used, as well as family photos of Don Joe Zerilli on his Grosse Pointe estate.
“Detroit Mob Confidential” is the first and only documentary made about America’s most secretive and most successful Mafia family. It is a must-see film for students of American history, crime buffs and Detroiters of all ages and backgrounds. Shown at the Detroit Historical Museum. Running Time: 90 minutes.
· “More Bob-lo Memories” will bring you back to the fun-filled summer days of taking a steamboat ride down the Detroit River to our region’s one-of-a-kind island amusement park. Shown at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Running Time: 42 minutes.
The Society’s Film Series features free monthly screenings of fascinating Detroit films at the Detroit Historical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Upcoming films include:
· February 13 and 14: “The Loving Story” at the Detroit Historical Museum and “America’s Ancient Industry” at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
· March 12 and 13: “Detroit: Remember When” at the Detroit Historical Museum and “Grown in Detroit” at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
