Henry Ford College (HFC) will host the Financial Aid Advising and Information Night for high school seniors and their parents on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Rooms of the Welcome Center (Building WC).
Advisers from HFC’s Office of Financial Aid will be available for one-on-one conversations with high school seniors and their parents. For more meaningful, individual feedback regarding financial aid, HFC recommends that students submit HFC’s free application, which is available at www.hfcc.edu/apply, as well as a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form (www.fafsa.gov) prior to attending this event. For FAFSA, HFC’s school code is 002270.
At this event, high school seniors and their parents will learn about:
· Filing for FAFSA;
· Various scholarships and grants; and
· Important loan information.
Financial aid eligibility is determined by information provided on a FAFSA. In general, for a student to qualify for financial aid, he or she must:
· Demonstrate a financial need;
· Have earned a high school diploma or have graduated from an approved homeschool equivalent;
· Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program of study;
· Be a United States (U.S.) citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
· Have a valid Social Security Number (SSN);
· Make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP); and
· Register with the Selective Service (if required).
Financial Aid Advising and Information Night is free and open to high school seniors and their parents. Those interested in this event should RSVP at www.hfcc.edu/finaidnight. Doors will open for registration/check-in the night of this event at 5:30 p.m. For questions or further information, contact Kristine Rouleau of HFC Admissions and Recruitment Office at 313-845-6316 or krouleau@hfcc.edu.
Henry Ford College (HFC) bids a warm welcome to its new and returning students with Welcome Back Days, taking place from Jan. 26-28 in the dining area of the Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M), located on the main campus.
The festivities will occur on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thursday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Welcome Days is sponsored by HFC’s Office of Student Activities.
At Welcome Back Days, students are introduced to the many programs and services available at HFC and are encouraged to get involved in student life. They have opportunities to join student clubs, speak with student support services representatives, as well as learn about the programs and admissions requirements needed to continue their education after graduating from HFC.
Tuesday and Wednesday will spotlight student clubs looking to recruit new members and promote upcoming events. Tuesday will also feature karaoke.
Thursday will feature Student Support Services, which will include Financial Aid representatives, information on transferring to 4-year colleges or universities, tips on note-taking and study skills, as well as other topics assisting with the success of students.
One new feature of Welcome Back Days for this semester is the Hawks’ Nest, HFC’s on-campus food pantry. The Hawks’ Nest – located in the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L) – opened last month and offers non-perishable food items to needy students. The Hawks’ Nest will be open throughout Welcome Back Days.
