Just over five years ago, construction projects were few and far between in the Motor City and throughout Michigan. Both General Motors and Chrysler were in bankruptcy and many politicians in Washington, Wall Street executives and business people from around the country were openly hostile to the industry and the anti-Detroit bias was palpable. Thankfully times have changed 180 degrees since then and the Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) is leading the way as the trade association for all the increased construction activity throughout the metro area and beyond.
Fast forward to 2016 and CAM’s all-day conference. The problems today are much different than just a few short years ago. Today, the focus is on finding the human resource talent for the industry, meeting demand with sufficient supply and otherwise controlling the increasing pressure the industry is under from pent up demand here in Detroit and throughout the Great Lake State.
CAM’s annual tradeshow in Detroit is all about community, collaboration and innovation. The all day tradeshow and con ed event is stacked with more than 10 seminars, presentations, an exhibit floor with over 100 exhibitors and a special luncheon presentation. With the intent to broaden the understanding of the latest emerging issues, news and newest technologies, this conference continually affords the industry an opportunity as a whole to better service the needs of building owners and developers. Furthermore, having the conference at the Motor City Casino creates a more exciting venue in which to create the necessary synergies to make this conference a success.
While only so much can be covered in a one day conference, the 2016 Michigan Construction and Design Tradeshow presented by the Construction Association of Michigan went a long way in keeping attendees on the cutting edge of advances in the construction industry. Future conferences will be put to the test to top this well attended, seminal event at Motor City Casino.
