Expansion underscores Michigan’s leadership position in automotive manufacturing
LANSING, Mich. – TREMEC Corporation, a manufacturer of high performance vehicle transmissions, plans to establish a new facility in the city of Wixom with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today.
The project, which represents the company’s first major manufacturing operation in the United States, is expected to generate $54 million in total investment and support the creation of up to 133 direct Michigan jobs.
“TREMEC’s expansion in Michigan rather than other states means well-paying jobs for Michigan residents and underscores the strength of the talent in the state’s automotive sector,” MEDC CEO Steve Arwood said. “This investment demonstrates Michigan’s continued leadership in auto manufacturing jobs growth, and we’re pleased TREMEC chose Michigan as the home for its first major U.S. manufacturing facility.”
