The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is hosting reporting workshops in January and February. Some trainings will take place on the same day, providing an opportunity to attend both the SARA workshop in the morning and the MAERS workshop in the afternoon in some locations. SARA Title III Tier Two Workshop Series
Emergency Preparedness for Michigan Facilities and their Communities

SARA Title III, also known as the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, requires facilities to report information to state and local officials that can be vital to the safety of their community.
These SARA Title III Tier Two Workshops will provide an overview of program regulations, reporting requirements, emergency planning requirements, and a step-by-step tutorial on logging into Tier II Manager and initiating a 2016 Tier II Annual Report. Time has also been set aside to answer questions and assistance in logging into Tier ll Manager.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This workshop is recommended for owners, operators, and environmental and safety personnel of facilities that have hazardous materials and/or chemicals on site. Environmental consultants, LEPCs, and fire department personnel can also benefit from this workshop and are encouraged to attend.
REGISTRATION COST: $80 (includes continental breakfast and the 2017 Facilities’ Guide to SARA Title III, Emergency Planning, and Release Reporting)
CONTINUING EDUCATION: This workshop is approved for 0.3 Drinking Water and Wastewater CECs in the managerial category, and 3 CEHs/PDHs for Professional Engineers.
NOTE: On January 25 and January 31, the Introduction to MAERS workshop will be offered in the afternoon following the SARA Title III workshop.

Introduction to Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System (MAERS) 2017 Workshop Series
January 25 – Washtenaw Community College, Ann Arbor

February 22 – Lansing Community College, West Campus
The Introduction to MAERS workshop series is being offered again this year to help companies submit their Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System (MAERS) reports. Workshop participants will be taken step-by-step through the Web-based system in an interactive, hands-on format. Workshop participants will learn:
- How to register as a user in MAERS
- How to navigate the Web-based forms and utilities
- How to complete and submit reports using MAERS
NEW THIS YEAR: Laptops will NOT be provided. It is recommended that you bring your own laptop or other device to access and navigate the MAERS online program during this workshop.
REGISTRATION COST: $80 (includes the MAERS Workbook and guidance materials)
CONTINUING EDUCATION: This workshop qualifies for 3 CEHs/PDHs for Professional Engineers.

This introductory workshop is designed for businesses subject to MAERS reporting. Consultants and users already familiar with MAERS may wish to view the on-line tutorials and other on-line tools available online at www.michigan.gov/deqmaers.
