February 16, 2017, Dearborn, Mich. — Henry Ford College (HFC) will host the Financial Aid Advising and Information Night on Tuesday, March 14. This event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Rooms of the Welcome Center (Building WC).
HFC specifically encourages current area high school seniors and their parents/guardians to attend this free event.
“Financial Aid Advising and Information Night gives parents and guardians the opportunity to hear firsthand how the financial aid process works. They can also speak with a financial aid advisor on an individual basis immediately following the program if they have any questions,” said Kristine Rouleau of HFC Admissions and Recruitment.
At this event, high school seniors and their parents/guardians will learn about:
- Filing for FAFSA;
- Various scholarships and grants; and
- Important loan information.
Financial aid eligibility is determined by information provided on a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In general, for a student to qualify for financial aid, he or she must:
- Demonstrate a financial need;
- Have earned a high school diploma or have graduated from an approved homeschool equivalent;
- Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program of study;
- Be a United States citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
- Have a valid Social Security Number (SSN);
- Make satisfactory academic pogress (SAP); and
- Register with the Selective Service (if required).
Following the presentation, advisors from HFC’s Office of Financial Aid will be available for one-on-one conversations with attendees to answer questions and review specific next steps.
For more meaningful, individual feedback regarding financial aid, students should submit HFC’s free application, which is available at www.hfcc.edu/apply, as well as a FAFSA form (www.fafsa.gov) prior to attending this event. For FAFSA, HFC’s school code is 002270.
Those interested in this event should RSVP at www.hfcc.edu/finaidnight. Doors will open for registration/check-in the night of this event at 5:30 p.m. For questions or further information, contact Rouleau at 313-845-6316 or krouleau@hfcc.edu.
