Years ago my fiancee dragged me to one of those huge wedding expos; it was an exhausting and confusing affair. Packed with people, eyes glazed over, picking up cards from table after table without engaging a single one, it reminded me of cattle being herded from one overly crowded pasture to another. Fortunately—especially for me and men everywhere—The Quintessential Event Company’s Rock the Veil Wedding Showcase events are the opposite of that…
To begin with, rather than driving out to the Palace or huge expo center, Rock the Veil events take place in local, smaller venues, such as the Royal Oak Farmers Market, or the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts. At least for me, it was a very short, convenient drive and walk to the front entrance. Secondly, while a great variety of exhibitors were available, guests were not overwhelmed by five different limo companies or twenty different florists. All the typical exhibitors were there, but so to were some refreshingly original business, which is where I spent most of my time. Finally, as someone with no intention of getting married anytime soon, I was still entertained by the great variety of live bands on one side and a great DJ demonstrating his considerable skills on the other. Depending on the band and the songs, I found myself excitedly migrating from one end of the building to the other.
Finally, if all of that wasn’t sufficient, there were enough free food samples to wreck my appetite for dinner. But for those without dinner plans, there were also three tables selling delicious food and a sitting area where couples could eat, converse, make decisions, and start crossing items off their “Must get done before it’s too late” wedding checkoff list.
Not only was Rock the Veil the best Wedding Showcase event I’ve been to, I would go so far as to say that it could be a fun place to just bring a date, or a “girls night out.” Free food samples, live music, and great vendors…I can think of worse ways to spend an evening!
