Consultants for Energy Efficient and Sustainable Buildings
Not long ago, a person interested in all things Green Building and Sustainable had to work hard to stay current on tools, training and trends. Since 2002, USGBC’s Greenbuild has grown into to a 3+day event with 12 “impact” tracks spread out over 200 sessions, green building tours, and more than 800 exhibitors! This year’s convention is going on right now.
Gatherings such as this have inspired many local programs, like “The Sustainable Detroit Forum,” which recently held its inaugural event. See below for more about these two great learning and networking opportunities.
Why do I go to USGBC Greenbuild Conventions?? Because I learn more about the exciting things happening in the green building and sustainability industry than I can anywhere else.
At Greenbuild Convention, you can hear from great speakers, not only on the state of the “Green” industry and where it is going, but also how it is being used around the world.

Jim and Lynn Newman at the Sustainable Detroit Forum.
Recently the USGBC Detroit Region presented a sold-out, day-long event designed to connect and cross-fertilize the sustainability communities of Detroit. The NCG team was there as a sponsor and participated in many of the day’s activities.
The event provided a day of interactive learning with morning and lunch keynotes followed by a series of short, “Rapid Fire” presentations about sustainable projects. These brief presentations allowed as many people as possible to share their sustainability actions and visions!
Some featured speakers included:
– Juan Shannon, Urban Pioneer and Visionary, Parker Village
– Connie Lilley, Executive Director, Detroit 2030
– Emile Lauzzana, Director, USGBC Detroit Regional Chapter
– Susan Kelsey, Global Biodiversity Program Mgr, General Motors
