
LANSING, Mich. Aquila Resources, Inc. is proposing the development of a polymetallic zinc, copper and gold mine in Lake Township, Menominee County. Aquila applied for a Wetlands, Lakes and Streams permit in Jan. 2017 and has been working with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to provide additional details on the proposed project. The DEQ Water Resources Division has received additional information from the applicant and has determined that Aquila’s application for permit is administratively complete. The application is on public notice and the department is soliciting comments that pertain to the proposed impacts to wetlands and streams.
DEQ will host a public hearing for the Wetlands, Lakes and Streams application at 6 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2018 at Stephenson High School located at W526 Division St., Stephenson, MI 49887. The hearing will be held in the small gym.
