Lansing Radisson Hotel conference on Dec. 2 features Director of Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation and incoming House Minority Leader talking marijuana commerce in a post-legalization Michigan
By Rick Thompson
For the third year in a row, the Michigan Cannabis Business Development Group is bringing a cannabis small business conference to Lansing’s Radisson Hotel in December.
Concern and confusion surround the launch of Michigan’s medical marijuana business program, which has struggled to process MMFLA applications in 2018. Commercial interest has been piqued by the passage of the adult use of cannabis proposal on November 6th, which sparks as many questions as it does opportunities.
Answering those questions, providing insight and exploring opportunity for the state’s entrepreneurs will be featured speaker Andrew Brisbo, Director of the state’s Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation. The 2018 lame duck session of the legislature promises to be filled with efforts to modify the existing medical marijuana business program and the brand-new legalization law; providing an insider’s view of introduced bills and whispered proposals is incoming House Minority Leader, Rep. Yousef Rabhi(D-Ann Arbor).
Other topics of interest to attendees include the cannabis stock market, as explained by specialist Ken Harrell of Detroit; compliance with federal banking codes and potential in-state solutions for accounting issues will be addressed by Harley Sherman, CPA; Jenn Zielinski of Dunaskiss Consulting and Development will discuss all aspects of cannabis trade organizations, ordinance status in Michigan’s large cities, the evolution of the new legalization laws and an overview of 2019’s rollout of the MMFLA businesses.
“This conference comes at a crucial time in Michigan’s development of cannabis businesses,” said MICBD Group founder, Rick Thompson. “The state should embrace the benefits of our new-found economic driver, but rumored legislative changes could smother and squash legalization’s implementation before the program gets started. Knowledge equals advantage, and we provide the best information in the industry.”
The MICBD Group has held eight cannabis-based small business conferences in Michigan since 2015 and is the recognized leader in the field. Each MICBD conference features media coverage, networking opportunities and a fantastic lunch. Tickets are available via Eventbrite or at the door.
The Conference begins at 11am on December 2, with Director Brisbo speaking at 11:30. Vendors will have tables displaying products and services unique to the cannabis business field. Interviews are available with the Director, the Representative and many other principals; media members are not required to register but are encouraged to arrive early for the greatest video opportunities.
