A property in Belding will be redeveloped with help from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ). A $27,500 grant was awarded to the Ionia County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to revitalize and safely reuse a former gas station property located at 429 North Bridge Street.
The MDEQ brownfield grant will be used to evaluate the property and plan for its safe reuse. Testing results will indicate whether environmental cleanup is needed before the property can be reused.More

The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has issued new emergency administrative rules to continue the implementation of the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA). Gov. Rick Snyder today signed the new rules to help ensure the continued protection of medical marihuana patients. Effective today, certain proposed medical marihuana facilities that would otherwise require a state operating license under the MMFLA may continue to operate with local approval until December 15, 2018 without impacting the applicant’s eligibility for licensure.More

Arsenal of Innovation event aims to connect local vendors to federal and military contracts
Kalamazoo was the fourth stop today in statewide tour to support Michigan defense-related businesses. The “Arsenal of Innovation” event aims to inform and assist Michigan companies that are interested in pursuing contracts with Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The event was hosted by the Michigan Defense Center, which is part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and keynoted by U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (St. Joseph).
