Coming up October 2-5 in Fort Wayne, Ind., is the 5th Mid America Trails & Greenways Conference (MATAG). Held at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, the conference brings together trail professionals, advocates and users from across the region—and representing expertise from conducting trail counts to sustainable development, managing winter usage and much more.
To work on a federally funded project (e.g. Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy) is a goal of many scientists regardless of whether they are just starting out or have years of experience conducting scientific research. It is an opportunity to publish ones work in professional journals and be recognized by leaders in academia and industry. Four (4) student scientists at ECOTEK were able to reach this goal while still in high school.

Waterford, Michigan — Michigan’s first “green” airport terminal opened yesterday at Oakland County International Airport following a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. More than 200 guests were among the first to check out the “green” features of the $7.5 million, 15,000 square foot terminal building.
