Freshwater Future Fall 2010 Climate Symposium
As the issue of climate change becomes more prevalent in the definition of environmental protection, it is important for people to know how climate change affects them and their surrounding environment.
The staff of Freshwater Future, a citizen action group helping people protect the Great Lakes by providing resources, are working to provide information on climate change to those living in the Great Lakes region through a Climate Symposium in downtown Detroit. More

The local Sierra Club location on Maple just off of Coolidge in Clawson, Michign has moved. The new location is at 2727 Second Avenue, Detroit, Michigan next to Cass and the Masonic Temple.
Ann Arbor Michigan, – Michigan Electric Auto Association, Michigan Clean Energy Coalition, and Washtenaw Community College showed its commitment to clean air and energy independence during its National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey event.
The final seminar in the Oakland County Sustainable Communities series was held Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in Waterford, Michigan with a topic centered on local food resources and community gardens.
The RES-CON “Green” Expo has been formatted specifically for the Greening education of residential builders of single family homes, duplexes, small apartment houses and home renovation. RES-CON can be used as a tool by contractors, builders, the public and interested non-profits to learn about the efficiencies of building “Green” and “Sustainable” and how the LEED for Home Certification Program can be used to assist them with their marketing and sales programs.
Last fall, a group of University of Michigan students took their solar car to Australia and finished third in the Global Green Challenge a grueling 1,880 mile race across the country. Their car – the Infinium – finished the course in five days, using only solar panels and lithium batteries to move along at nearly 60 miles per hour.
Program Chair Bill Connors, introduced the guest speaker of the morning, John Carlos. John is a native of Birmingham and is the former liaison for the United States Green Building Council. Mr. Carlos began GreeningDetroit.com about two years ago. “GreeningDetroit.com is an online directory and informational / educational portal designed for Metro Detroit, providing sustainable solutions, products and services, green news and information and helpful hints for homes and businesses.”
