The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) has opened three job postings for Workplace Safety Representatives (WSR). The positions are in Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties; Oakland County; and Wayne County respectively. A WSR (Safety Officer) inspects workplaces for compliance with occupational safety regulations. These are permanent, full-time positions. Candidates seeking a career in Michigan civil service are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any major. As an alternative to a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have an educational level typically acquired through completion of high school, AND 1) One year of responsibility for workplace safety in a general industry environment, or, 2) One year of experience investigating/inspecting industrial plants for compliance with occupational safety standards. It is helpful if the candidate has spent several years operating and/or repairing machines or equipment in an industrial setting.
