A Chinese battery manufacturing company is opening a research and development center in Pittsfield Township that officials say will create 41 jobs and bring in $4.6 million in investment.

Experience in childcare or working with children ages 3 – 6 years is preferred for Early Childhood applicants, but not required to apply. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) has opened three job postings for Workplace Safety Representatives (WSR). The positions are in Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties; Oakland County; and Wayne County respectively. A WSR (Safety Officer) inspects workplaces for compliance with occupational safety regulations. These are permanent, full-time positions. Candidates seeking a career in Michigan civil service are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any major. As an alternative to a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have an educational level typically acquired through completion of high school, AND 1) One year of responsibility for workplace safety in a general industry environment, or, 2) One year of experience investigating/inspecting industrial plants for compliance with occupational safety standards. A new report from the Solar Foundation found that jobs in Michigan’s solar industry jumped by an impressive 48% from 2015 to 2016. During that time, Michigan solar companies added more than 1300 jobs, for a total Michigan solar workforce of 4,118. This positions Michigan second in the Midwest both in terms of growth rate and number of individuals employed in the solar industry, and Michigan now ranks 15th nationally in number of solar jobs, up three spots since 2015.
