4th ANNUAL HOLISTIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS EXPO FOCUSES ON WHOLE PERSON TREATMENT

Royal Oak Community Coalition LogoThe Royal Oak Community Coalition in partnership with Royal Oak Schools and the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities presents a one day opportunity to explore complementary and integrative practices that maintain and sustain optimal health and empower people when challenging a health related condition.

The evolution of medicine is moving toward a whole person approach designed to treat the person, not just the disease. The goal is to treat the mind, body and spirit all at the same time.

In 1993, integrative medicine got a boost of greater public awareness after a landmark study confirmed one in three Americans had used a complementary therapy. Physicians and academic research finally have the science to understand these connections and no longer consider complementary approaches fringe.

The appeal of integrative modalities is treating the whole person by blending both conventional and holistic approaches that will improve the management of illness at all levels. The aim is to take into account not only the physical symptoms but also psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness.
