GreenGo Tek LLC has received an order from the University of Memphis for 8 electric pickup and dump trucks along with an electric cargo van.
The vehicles, which will be delivered by the end of June 2010 will used by University Services for campus maintenance and are funded via an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Assistance program grant.
“The 9-unit program puts our product in the hands of new end users which have demonstrated their interest in cleaner transportation solutions,” said Dan Russo, GreenGo Tek’ President. “Our electric drive train will deliver the environmental benefits that the customers want and that the communities deserve and our up to 80-per-cent fuel economy improvement and reduced maintenance costs are extremely attractive ancillary benefits.”
The Edyne Trucks and Van bodies specified on the agreement are 100% battery powered vehicles and have been modified with dump beds, racks and equipped with a superior drive train for transportation of cargo weight in excess of ¾ of a ton.
“The combination of access to government funding support and significant economic and environmental benefits has increased the call for green transportation solutions at our Manufacturing facility in Milford, MI,” said Dan Russo, President of GGT Electric. “This is an exciting program for GGT and we hope to attract additional orders as customers begin to fully appreciate and enjoy the performance benefits.”
With features like quick charging stations and regenerative braking, the GGT Edyne electric drive train is gaining popularity for fuel economy improvements, lower maintenance costs and zero greenhouse emissions. The GGT technology is integrated on several chassis including Dodge Dakota, PT Cruiser, Transit and Mini Cooper. It is also producing the only on-demand hybrid electric trucks in its class in Europe.
