Reimbursements of up to $5,000 are currently available for the installation or conversion of fueling pumps to dispense ethanol-blended fuels. The goal of the Michigan Blender Pump Incentive Project is to increase blended ethanol infrastructure along major highway corridors and in urban areas in Michigan at publicly accessible retail locations.
“There are millions of flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) on American roads every day,” states CEC Project Manager Matt Sandstrom. “These vehicles are designed to operate on various blends of ethanol, from E10 to E85. Blender pumps allow those customers with FFVs to choose a blend of ethanol and gasoline that works best in their unique vehicle and driving conditions.”
Made possible by a grant from the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, selected stations should provide blended ethanol continuously for at least three years, prominently display price signs for ethanol on-site, and competitively priced blended ethanol barring large market fluctuations with regular gasoline.
Jody Pollok-Newsome, Executive Director of CMPM, adds, “Blender pumps are advantageous as they allow the retainer to offer more fuel options from a single pump. They are also great for the customer as they provide more fuel choices to meet individual consumers’ needs. We are proud to partner with the CEC on this grant that will bring 10 more ethanol fueling stations to Michigan.
