Clinton Township, MI – A unique business that brings power to electrical vehicles opened recently in Macomb County. Park-n-Plug, based in Clinton Township, installs Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations near commercial developments, parking structures, industrial sites, office complexes, healthcare facilities and more. The charging stations power hybrid electrical vehicles, including the Chevrolet Volt.
Park-n-Plug is noteworthy as it is owned and operated by an architect, land surveyor, electrical engineer, electrical contractor and two civil engineers. These experts in their respective fields provide consulting, engineering, system integration, and installation of the EVs. Park-n-Plug is the only business of this kind in the area.
“Park-n-Plug believes that EV charging stations should be installed with great focus on all safety aspects, while implementing all the local, municipal and national codes and regulations,” said land surveyor Robert Drouillard, PS, co-owner of Park-n-Plug.
It is necessary to consider zoning, planning, building codes, ordinances, safety issues, and other important aspects before the installation of EVs, especially in parking lots (where customers could trip over cords) and other commercials areas.
Park-n-Plug’s green technology is the wave of the future, considering all major carmakers, including Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Tesla, VW, Renault and others are developing new-generation electric vehicles. There are currently about 3,000 highway-capable EVs on America’s highways, with many more on the way. The cost to charge a vehicle is about $1.50 a day.
