On March 27th 2014 the Italy Advanced Manufacturing Delegation was held at the Detroit Regional Chamber. The meeting was a private meeting organized to convince Italian manufactures that Michigan is in fact the best place to invest in business.
Among the attendees was the Honorable Consulate General Maria Luisa Lapresa of the Consul of Italy in Detroit, Aurora Battaglia Senior Vice Precident of Comerica Bank, and Kathy Klechner Director of Business Attraction of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation just to name a few. In the meeting Michigan leader spoke passionately about the perks of not only doing business in Michigan but also of living here. When relocating from one country to the next, everything can be a bit of a culture shock. Noel Nevshehir, director of international business services at Automation Alley, said that his company offers networking connections so that business people relocated to the Metro Detroit Area from around the world are not living in isolation as they often do.
In Interview, Kleckner spoke candidly of her hopes to show off what Michigan has to off the market. She also expressed that it would be a huge benefit for the people of Detroit if the Italian manufactures were to decide to come to Michigan. Most of the information discussed in the meeting was classified information; however, what can be disclosed is that leader here in Michigan/Detroit are trying their best to turn things around. On the angle of economic growth, if Michigan were to become partners with the Italians, it would be a win, win relationship for all parties involved. Rather the Italians are set to become Michiganders has yet to be decided. What is true for us here in the big blue mitten is that the sky is the limit.
