SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, announces the public comment period for an amendment to the FY 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). TIP projects meet the goals and objectives of the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan for Southeast Michigan.
Twenty-five projects are either being added or have a major change in scope. Another 13 are being deleted. Additions include nine pavement preservation projects, eight bridge projects (primarily the Blue Water Bridge), a safety project, a nonmotorized project, and two each that can be categorized as transit, roadside, or capacity. Deletions include many Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) projects being removed because of changes in priorities.
The amendment requires all proposed projects to undergo a series of evaluations, including identifying financial resources, an air quality conformity review, an environmental justice analysis, and a public comment process.
Project details and evaluation results are available online or from the SEMCOG Information Center at 313-324-3330.
