The Michigan Film Office announced two television series – Ask Dr. Nandi-Season 3 and American Muscle – were awarded film incentives from the state.
“Michigan-based television series help expose audiences to the state, while offering opportunities for crew and local businesses,” said Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office. “Both of these projects highlight talented entrepreneurs who call Michigan home.”
Ask Dr. Nandi-Season 3 is currently filming in Farmington Hills. The project was awarded an incentive of $1,582,898 on $6,437,789 of projected in-state expenditures and expected to hire 41 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of 49 jobs.
Ask Dr. Nandi is a physician talk show filmed, produced and edited in Michigan dealing with medical and lifestyle issues. It is an hour long show where patients and practitioners discuss diseases or problems in detail and develop solutions for the patients and their families. The show airs on Impact Network, Doctor Television Channel (DrTV) and Diya TV network.
American Muscle will premiere July 9 and follows Michigan gym owner and health guru Mike Barwis and his staff as they work to train professional athletes and the middle-aged dads that work out alongside them.
The project was awarded an incentive of $308,869 on $1,253,682 of projected in-state expenditures and expected to hire 14 Michigan workers with a fulltime equivalent of 6 jobs.
In Fiscal Year 2014, 14 projects have been awarded $58,887,320 on $227,385,815 of approved production expenditures for the year. These projects are expected to create 1,500 hires with a full time equivalent of 1,195 jobs.
The Michigan Film Office was created in 1979 to assist and attract incoming production companies and promote the growth of Michigan’s own film industry. The Film Office also administers the incentive program for film, television and other digital media production in Michigan. For more on the Michigan Film Office, visit: MichiganFilmOffice.org.
