Automation Alley, Michigan’s largest technology business association, has hired Ted Williams as technology investment analyst. Williams will report to Tom Kelly, Automation Alley’s director of entrepreneurship and is responsible for tracking entrepreneurial client milestones and overall portfolio performance measurements for the 38 ventures in which Automation Alley has invested nearly $9 million.
Williams will also monitor each entrepreneur’s progress, troubleshoot potential problems, help them to develop next steps and recommend a path towards commercialization. The position is made possible through the Adams Entrepreneur Fellowship Program, which was created through the support of the Ann and Carmen Adams Fund of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.
“Ted brings a unique mix of experience, passion and intellectual curiosity that is a perfect blend for his role here at Automation Alley,” Kelly said. “I am excited to be working with him.”
Williams comes to Automation Alley with a wealth of experience in business development. Prior to joining the team at Automation Alley, Williams served as national director of business development at GMG Tax Solutions Group in Flint. He has also served as sales director for Ann Arbor-based LED lighting company Bluecolt Lighting, LLC and as a leasing agent for Taubman Centers.
Williams has a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Oakland University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Michigan.
