The Community Pollution Prevention (P2) Grant Program seeks to bring local government, businesses, planning agencies, and residents together to achieve measurable waste reductions of pollutants using innovative sustainable pollution prevention practices.
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is authorized under Public Act 384 of 1996 as amended to provide matching grant funds to county governments, local health departments, municipalities, and regional planning agencies for the purpose of preventing pollution.
Grant projects must focus on achieving measurable reductions in waste, have a local or regional focus, and result in long-term environmental improvements. Funding priorities, dollar amounts available, and match requirements are subject to change on an annual basis.
