Storm water has become one of the greatest economic challenges in our region and around the world. The traditional centralized approach to storm water management and building billions of dollars in infrastructure; is no longer a sustainable model. The future of storm water is in decentralized management and enabling the earth to naturally infiltrate the water when and where it falls; as mother nature originally intended. Detroit with its vast open spaces has an opportunity to become thought leaders in storm water management and lead the revolution with a decentralized approach. Michigan’s greatest asset is water. We have an opportunity to leverage our greatest asset and become thoughts leaders in water management. When the world demands access to our fresh water; lets teach them how to better manage their own water. In the future when people think about Michigan, they should think about water.
