Contractors, home inspectors, Realtors, appraisers and college students can learn about the “science” behind a high-performance home. Already certified? Refresh and update your skill set for 2017!

Instructors will explain the components of whole home building performance from the ground up, in easy to understand terms. Learn about the building envelope, heating, A/C, insulation, appliances and other systems of the home as they relate to occupant comfort, safety and energy efficiency.

This session is designed for anyone who tests, installs or services mechanical systems, including HVAC contractors. We will teach participants how to bring an HVAC system as close to 100% capacity as possible.

Successful completion of this course will result in 3.5 BPI and 5.0 RESNET CEUs (pending)

New DOE Publication: Energy Efficiency Potential by State

A new analysis from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Electric Power Research Institute finds that 741,000 gigawatt-hours of cost-effective electric efficiency potential is available from 2016 to 2035—equal to about 16 percent of electricity projected to be consumed in the United States. According to the analysis, roughly 20 states are on track to capture all of these savings, while another 20 are currently poised to achieve less than 50 percent of the cost-effective savings available.

In addition to the multi-sector analysis, DOE has developed state-level energy efficiency potential estimates for four high-value opportunities: Building Energy Codes, Combined Heat & Power, Residential Efficiency and Industrial Efficiency.
