Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will host the grand opening of the new 35,400-square-foot Oakland County Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center, whose mission is to adopt out as many dogs and cats as it can. Among the special guests helping to celebrate the event will be students from Bailey Lake Elementary School in Clarkston who volunteer every year at the shelter as part of a school service project. Other county and local officials have been invited to attend. Following a brief ceremony, animal shelter staff will take members of the news media on a tour of the new facility.
